Roma’s Sporting Director Addresses Hummels Situation and New Signings
Roma’s sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has shed light on the recent benching of defender Mats Hummels and shared insights on the club’s latest acquisitions. Speaking before Roma’s away match against Parma, Ghisolfi addressed several key topics concerning the team’s current state and future plans.
Regarding Hummels’ absence from the starting lineup for the third consecutive match, Ghisolfi explained, “It’s the coach’s decision. Hummels’ form has dipped slightly since the Milan game, but he’s working hard. We expect him to play on Thursday. That’s my perspective, at least.”
Ghisolfi also discussed the potential of Roma’s January signings, Lucas Gourna-Douath and Anass Salah-Eddine, who are set to start against Parma. “They’re both young players with physical prowess and technical ability. Salah-Eddine is more agile, while Gourna-Douath is a midfield enforcer. I’m eager to see them in action today,” he stated.
When asked about the controversial Europa League match against FC Porto and any messages for UEFA’s refereeing chief Roberto Rosetti, Ghisolfi deflected, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the upcoming Parma game.
Looking ahead, Ghisolfi addressed the search for Roma’s next head coach, as current manager Claudio Ranieri is expected to move into a directorial role next season. “We’re working on it, but it’s only February. We have time to make this decision and want to take as long as necessary. We’ll see,” he concluded.
