Ruslan Malinovskyi has made his comeback to the field. The Ukrainian midfielder, formerly of Atalanta, entered the Cagliari-Genoa match in the 75th minute. This marked his return after several months of absence due to a severe injury suffered at the beginning of autumn 2024.
Malinovskyi had fractured his fibula and dislocated his right ankle joint. He underwent surgery the day after the injury, which occurred on September 21st during a match against Venezia.
Now, he is back on the field. While he may not yet have the stamina to start a game, Malinovskyi’s left foot is expected to be a valuable asset for Genoa in the final stretch of the season.
Coach Vieira stated a few days prior, “He is progressing, continuing to train with the team, but we must remember that he is recovering from a significant injury. He is still a bit behind to play full matches. He is improving, and that is positive.”
However, there was bad news for the coach as Cornet, who scored Genoa’s equalizing goal in the match against Cagliari, was also injured. Vieira commented after the game, “I don’t know, I haven’t seen the doctor yet.”
