Saka’s return could impact Arsenal star’s playing time
Arsenal had mixed results on Tuesday – they lost Gabriel Magalhaes to injury but secured a win against Fulham and saw Bukayo Saka make his return from the sidelines. The young star even scored the winning goal just 7 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Saka’s importance to the team is clear. In the 13 league games he’s missed this season, Arsenal dropped points 6 times. With him playing, they average 2.11 points per game compared to just 1.92 without him.
His return is great news for Arsenal, but it could spell trouble for captain Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian midfielder has struggled for form this season, with just 5 goals and 8 assists in 33 appearances – a goal involvement every 2.53 games compared to every 2.18 games last season.
Odegaard’s performances have been frustrating, as he fails to make an impact in games. Fans are starting to lose patience, with some saying he’s “not at the level” required right now.
With Saka back on the right wing and young star Ethan Nwaneri in good form and able to play attacking midfield, Odegaard may be in danger of losing his place in the starting lineup. While undoubtedly talented, he has not shown his best this season and could face increased competition for his spot.
