Santiago Gimenez: Milan’s New Striker Ready to Make His Mark

Milan has officially unveiled their latest signing, Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez, in a high-profile transfer from Feyenoord. The 22-year-old, who cost the Italian club €35 million including bonuses, expressed his excitement about joining the Rossoneri.

Gimenez, who has scored an impressive 16 goals in 19 official matches this season, including 5 in the Champions League, is eager to continue his goalscoring form for Milan. He’s already participated in his first training session and could potentially start in the upcoming Coppa Italia match against Roma.

The young forward shared his thoughts on realizing his childhood dream of playing for Milan, stating, “One of my main goals as a child was to play for this team, and now I’ve achieved it. I hope to leave my mark on this great club.”

When asked about his readiness for the Roma match, Gimenez confirmed he’s fully recovered from a minor injury sustained in his last game for Feyenoord. He also mentioned that Milan had been monitoring him since the previous transfer window, but he remained focused on his performance.

Regarding his playing style and inspirations, Gimenez cited Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a player he greatly admires. He identified passion and power as his strengths while acknowledging areas for improvement. The striker chose the number 7 jersey, noting its significance in relation to club legend Andriy Shevchenko and its biblical meaning of perfection.

Gimenez emphasized his alignment with Milan’s winning mentality, stating, “Milan is like a tailor-made suit for me. There’s a hunger for victory and an important spirit that I identify with. I too have this fiery spirit and will give my all to leave a lasting impact.”

The Mexican international also expressed his awareness of representing his country at such a prestigious club, feeling the united support of his nation behind him. As he embarks on this new chapter, Gimenez is focused on carving his own path rather than drawing comparisons to other players, aiming to make a unique impression during his time at Milan.
