Maurizio Sarri has reached a full agreement with Lazio to return as the club`s head coach, just over a year after his resignation. The 66-year-old Italian manager is poised to make a comeback to the Stadio Olimpico after a 15-month hiatus.
The new deal between Lazio and Sarri includes a two-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months. Following discussions in Tuscany, both parties have come to terms on salary arrangements, which had previously been a minor sticking point.
Importantly, Sarri and the club have also aligned on plans for the upcoming summer transfer window. This time around, the coach is expected to have a more significant role in transfer decisions. For instance, if a key player wishes to depart, Sarri will only approve the move if a suitable replacement has been identified.
Sarri`s previous tenure with Lazio lasted nearly three seasons, from 2021 to 2024. He stepped down in March of last year following a string of poor results. His anticipated return comes just 15 months after that resignation.
This reunion marks a new chapter for both Sarri and Lazio, with the experienced coach set to take the reins once again and guide the team forward in their upcoming campaigns.
