Sergio Aguero Predicts Xabi Alonso’s Future at Real Madrid
Former Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, and Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero has expressed his belief that current Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is destined to take charge of Real Madrid in the future.
“I have a strong feeling that Xabi Alonso will eventually become the manager of Real Madrid,” Aguero stated. “While I’m not certain about the exact timing, I believe it’s his destiny given his history as a player with Madrid and the excellent work he’s been doing in the Bundesliga.”
Alonso has been at the helm of Bayer Leverkusen since 2022, with his current contract set to run until the summer of 2026. Under his leadership, Leverkusen has achieved remarkable success, clinching the 2023/24 Bundesliga title, as well as securing both the German Cup and Super Cup.
The former Spanish midfielder’s impressive managerial record and his strong ties to Real Madrid as a former player have fueled speculation about his potential return to the Spanish giants in a coaching capacity. Aguero’s comments add to the growing sentiment that Alonso’s path may lead him back to the Santiago Bernabeu in a managerial role.
