Sergio Ramos Ignites Passion in Mexico with Rayados Arrival
Sergio Ramos has embarked on a new chapter in his illustrious career, this time in Mexico. The Spanish defender has joined Rayados de Monterrey, making his debut in the Liga MX to much fanfare. His introduction to the club sparked an incredible reaction from fans.
Ramos’ unveiling took place during an open training session at the BBVA Stadium, where over 50,000 enthusiastic supporters gathered to welcome their new star. As he stepped onto the field wearing the Monterrey jersey with the number 93 (chosen to commemorate his crucial goal in the 2014 Champions League final), the stadium erupted in cheers.
Addressing his decision to join Rayados and his adaptation process, Ramos stated, “I’ve always followed my heart. After the medical examination, everyone was reassured. I take good care of myself and maintain a high level of fitness. I just need to understand the team’s dynamics, which should take about two to three weeks.”
Despite his age and recent inactivity, Ramos is confident about his contribution to the team: “I’ll bring experience and defensive solidity. If anyone has doubts, I aim to change their minds through my performance on the pitch. I come with the mentality to bring trophies to this team. We may lose in many ways, but attitude is non-negotiable, and we must give our all on the field.”
At Rayados, Ramos will reunite with familiar faces from Spanish football, including Sergio Canales and Óliver Torres. The team also boasts other well-known players like Lucas Ocampos, Héctor Moreno, and ‘Tecatito’ Corona, with the legendary Martín Demichelis as coach.
Beyond the domestic league, Rayados de Monterrey has a significant challenge on the horizon: the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The team will compete in the tournament’s first expanded edition, placed in Group E alongside Inter Milan, River Plate, and Urawa Red Diamonds.
As Sergio Ramos begins this new adventure with Rayados de Monterrey, fans and observers alike are eager to see how the decorated defender will impact Mexican football in what could be the final chapter of his storied career.
