Serie A: 10-man Verona hold Udinese to goalless draw

Verona managed to secure a valuable point in a goalless draw against Udinese, despite playing with 10 men for the final 20 minutes. Goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò was the hero for Verona, making several crucial saves including tipping a late long-range effort onto the crossbar.

Verona had the better chances in the first half, with Suat Serdar forcing a save from the Udinese goalkeeper early on. Udinese grew into the game after halftime and created some good opportunities, but were denied by Montipò.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men in the 71st minute when Serdar received a second yellow card for a rash challenge. Udinese pushed for a winner against the depleted Verona side but couldn’t find a breakthrough.

Montipò’s best save came late on when he acrobatically tipped Arthur Atta’s powerful long-range strike onto the crossbar. The draw leaves Verona just outside the relegation zone, while Udinese remain comfortably mid-table.

It was a battling performance from Verona to earn a point despite their numerical disadvantage. Udinese will feel frustrated not to have taken all three points, but Montipò’s heroics in goal secured a hard-fought draw for the hosts.
