Serie A: Atalanta 1-1 Juventus – Thrilling Draw as Retegui Cancels Out Kalulu’s Opener
Atalanta and Juventus battled to an exhilarating 1-1 draw in their rescheduled Serie A fixture. Pierre Kalulu put Juventus ahead in the 54th minute, but substitute Mateo Retegui equalized for Atalanta with 12 minutes remaining to ensure the points were shared.
The match was a tense affair from the start, with both sides creating chances. Ademola Lookman tested Michele Di Gregorio early on, while Kenan Yildiz went close for Juventus just before halftime.
The deadlock was broken shortly after the restart when Weston McKennie set up Kalulu to fire past Marco Carnesecchi. Atalanta pushed for an equalizer and were rewarded when Retegui, making his return from injury, headed home from Raoul Bellanova’s cross in the 78th minute.
Both teams had opportunities to win it late on. Carnesecchi made a crucial save to deny Nicolò Zaniolo, while at the other end Yildiz narrowly missed with a shot that grazed the post in stoppage time.
The result leaves Atalanta nine points clear of Juventus in the Serie A standings. It was a fair outcome to an evenly-matched and entertaining contest between two of Italy’s top sides.
