Serie A Disciplinary Committee Issues Bans for Week 34
Following the conclusion of Serie A Week 33 fixtures, the league’s Disciplinary Committee has handed out suspensions to six players and two coaches for the upcoming matches.
The most notable incident occurred during the heated Bologna vs Inter match, which resulted in a 1-0 victory for Bologna. Both Bologna’s head coach Vincenzo Italiano and Inter’s assistant manager Massimiliano Farris received straight red cards, leading to one-match touchline bans for each.
Inter players Alessandro Bastoni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan also faced consequences, as they were booked during the match, triggering automatic one-game suspensions due to accumulated yellow cards.
Player Suspensions
In addition to the Inter duo, four other players across different teams will miss their next Serie A fixtures:
- Maxi Perrone (Como)
- Liberato Cacace (Empoli)
- Medon Berisha (Lecce)
- Nikola Krstovic (Lecce)
These suspensions are all due to an accumulation of yellow cards throughout the season.
Financial Penalties
The Disciplinary Committee also imposed fines on three clubs for fan misconduct:
- Lecce: €4,000
- Inter: €3,000
- Bologna: €1,500
These fines were issued as a result of supporters throwing objects onto the pitch during matches.
It’s worth noting that due to recent schedule changes following the passing of Pope Francis, the exact matches these suspensions will apply to may vary. The bans will take effect for each team’s next Serie A fixture, regardless of when it occurs.
