Serie A: Lazio 1-1 Atalanta – Late Brescianini Goal Earns Point for Leaders

Atalanta’s 11-match winning run in Serie A came to an end as Lazio held them to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru gave Lazio the lead in the first half, but substitute Marco Brescianini struck late to salvage a point for the league leaders.

Lazio started brightly and took a deserved lead on 27 minutes when Dele-Bashiru reacted quickest to fire home after a ball over the top from Nicolò Rovella. Atalanta struggled to create clear chances in the first half despite dominating possession.

The visitors improved after the break and piled on the pressure in search of an equalizer. Ademola Lookman had a header cleared off the line by Luca Pellegrini as Atalanta pushed for a leveler.

Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 88th minute when Brescianini tapped in from close range after good work by Lookman. The late goal maintained Atalanta’s unbeaten run and kept them top of the Serie A table heading into the new year.

The draw sees Atalanta’s lead at the summit cut to just two points, while Lazio remain in mid-table after an inconsistent first half of the season. Both sides will now turn their attention to the Supercoppa Italiana in early January.
