Serie A: Lecce Stuns Parma with 3-1 Away Victory
Lecce pulled off an impressive 3-1 away win against Parma in Serie A on Friday evening. Goals from Nikola Krstovic and a brace from Santiago Pierotti propelled Lecce up five places in the table, while condemning Parma to the relegation zone.
Notably absent from the Lecce lineup was Patrick Dorgu, who missed just his second match of the season. The young defender is expected to complete a transfer to Manchester United before the January window closes on Monday.
Krstovic thought he had opened the scoring for Lecce after 24 minutes, but his goal was disallowed for a marginal offside after a VAR review. Parma then took the lead through an Emanuele Valeri penalty, confidently struck into the roof of the net.
Lecce equalized shortly after halftime when Krstovic headed home a looping cross from Thorir Johann Helgason. The visitors then took control, with Pierotti making it 2-1 just after the hour mark. He latched onto a defense-splitting pass from Krstovic before calmly finishing past goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
Krstovic and Pierotti combined again in stoppage time to seal the 3-1 victory. Pierotti started and finished the move, playing a one-two with Krstovic before firing home a deflected shot to complete his brace.
The result sees Lecce climb out of the relegation places, while Parma drop into the bottom three. It marks an important win for Lecce in their battle for Serie A survival this season.
