Serie A: Torino and Genoa Battle to 1-1 Stalemate
Torino and Genoa shared the points in a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. An own goal by Genoa’s Morten Thorsby gave Torino the lead just before halftime, but Andrea Pinamonti equalized for the visitors midway through the second half.
The match was evenly contested, with both sides creating chances. Torino controlled possession and had more shots on goal, but Genoa defended resolutely and threatened on the counter-attack.
Nikola Vlasic and Che Adams had opportunities for Torino in the first half, while Genoa’s best chance came when Alessandro Zanoli forced a crucial block from Guillermo Maripan.
The deadlock was broken in first half stoppage time when Thorsby accidentally headed Valentino Lazaro’s corner into his own net. Genoa equalized in the 68th minute after a defensive error, with Junior Messias setting up Pinamonti to fire home.
Torino pushed for a winner late on, with debutant Cesare Casadei heading wide from a corner. There were also late penalty appeals for Torino, but the referee waved play on after consulting VAR.
The result extends Torino’s unbeaten run to seven matches, although they have only won once during that stretch. Genoa will be satisfied to earn a point away from home as they continue their fight against relegation.
