Seven Serie A Clubs Achieve Profitability in 2023-24 Season
The financial landscape of Serie A has shown signs of improvement, with total losses across the league decreasing to €369 million in the 2023-24 season. Notably, seven clubs managed to achieve profitability, marking the highest number since the 2019-20 campaign.
While the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to linger, with stadium closures and limited revenues significantly affecting the sport, the recent figures indicate a positive trend. The current losses represent a reduction from the €441 million deficit recorded in the 2022-23 season, though still far from the €278 million losses seen in 2018-19.
Napoli emerged as the most financially successful club, posting profits of €63.029 million, bolstered by player sales and increased television revenues. Lazio followed with €38.494 million in profits, while Lecce, despite being a smaller club, secured the third position with €13.983 million.
Atalanta, known for their consistent financial performance, reported profits of €11.876 million, aided by their Europa League victory. Other profitable clubs included Frosinone (€4.413 million), Milan (€4.105 million), and Hellas Verona (€3.913 million).
On the other end of the spectrum, Juventus recorded the highest losses at €199.228 million, exacerbated by their absence from European competitions. Roma reported losses of €81.364 million, while Inter Milan showed significant improvement, reducing their deficit to €35.746 million from €85.3 million in the previous year.
This financial upturn reflects the ongoing efforts of Serie A clubs to adapt to the post-pandemic landscape and implement more sustainable business models.
