Should Tottenham Sell Player After Poor Bournemouth Performance?

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth showed their resilience, coming back from a two-goal deficit in the last half hour.

Pape Sarr and Heung-min Son scored for Tottenham in London, which could prepare them for their Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

Ange Postecoglou has faced criticism recently due to Tottenham’s position in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Injuries have been a factor, but Postecoglou’s decisions have also been questioned, especially in the Bournemouth game where defensive errors led to them falling behind by two goals.

Despite the initial setback against Bournemouth, Tottenham responded positively. Several players performed well during the comeback.

Spurs’ Top Performers Against Bournemouth

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has returned from injury and has brought back much-needed quality. His performance against Bournemouth was among his best since returning.

Vicario made six saves in the game, including three early saves, giving Tottenham a chance to earn a point.

Full-back Djed Spence has benefited from the injury situation, getting regular playing time and making a case for a significant role under Postecoglou.

Spence had a strong game against Bournemouth, completing 94% of his passes and winning all of his tackles, contributing effectively in both attack and defense.

This performance demonstrates Spence’s potential and suggests he needs consistent playing time to develop further at Tottenham. This could lead to another player being sold in the summer, especially if their recent performances have been poor.

Spurs Player Who Should Be Sold After 3/10 Performance

Given Tottenham’s underwhelming season, some players have not met the high expectations set for them at the club.

One such player is full-back Pedro Porro. While he had a good 2023/24 season with four goals and seven assists, and has two goals and seven assists this season, his long-term future at Tottenham is now in question, especially with Spence’s emergence.

Porro has struggled in recent games, including the Bournemouth match. He misplaced the pass leading to Bournemouth’s first goal and was out of position.

Porro also failed to complete any of his dribbles and only connected on 44% of his crosses, appearing ineffective in attacking areas.

One Spurs commentator described Porro as “absolutely terrible.” He also won only 43% of his ground duels and struggled against Bournemouth’s winger Antoine Semenyo.

Due to his poor performance, Porro received a 3/10 rating from a Daily Express journalist, highlighting his disappointing game, especially compared to Spence’s strong showing.

Given Porro’s negative impact and Spence’s recent good form, Postecoglou might consider selling Porro, especially if Real Madrid are still interested.

Spence is a younger and potentially more effective option, allowing Tottenham to invest funds in other team positions.
