Soule and Shomurodov Discuss Roma’s Crucial Win Over Verona

Roma emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Verona at the Stadio Olimpico, thanks to an early goal from Eldor Shomurodov. The match, which saw few scoring opportunities, extended Roma’s unbeaten streak to 17 games, including 12 wins.

Matias Soule, who provided the assist for Shomurodov’s goal, revealed an interesting detail about the play. “To be honest, I was attempting to score myself,” Soule admitted in a post-match interview. “Fortunately, you were there to finish it off!” he joked with Shomurodov.

Soule also commented on the team’s focus, stating, “We’re concentrating solely on our performance and results. We’ll see where that takes us. Verona proved to be a challenging opponent with their long-ball tactics, but we achieved our primary objective of securing three points.”

Despite being sidelined due to knee surgery, Paulo Dybala continues to support the team from the bench, acting as an unofficial assistant to manager Claudio Ranieri. Soule praised Dybala’s leadership, saying, “He’s a leader both on and off the field. He even joins us during training retreats and attends every game. His presence is a significant boost for the team.”

Shomurodov, who was a surprise starter over Artem Dovbyk, justified Ranieri’s decision with his match-winning goal. He expressed the team’s ambitions, saying, “Our goal is to qualify for the Champions League, which means we need to win every match. The coach warned us about the difficulty of this game, and he was right. However, the incredible atmosphere created by our fans really helped us through.”

Roma faces a challenging end to the season, with their final five fixtures including matches against Inter, Fiorentina, Atalanta, Milan, and Torino. The team’s performance in these games will be crucial in determining their Champions League qualification prospects.
