Stellini: Napoli Must Sustain High Intensity to Achieve Victory
Cristian Stellini, assistant manager of Napoli, reflected on the team’s 1-1 draw with Bologna, highlighting the need for sustained intensity throughout the match. He emphasized that maintaining the same level of performance in both halves is crucial for the team’s aspirations.
Despite facing challenges before the match, including Conte’s touchline ban and last-minute changes to the starting lineup, Napoli dominated the first half. Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa’s impressive solo goal gave them the lead. However, Bologna fought back in the second half, equalizing through Dan Ndoye’s spectacular back-heel flick.
Stellini praised the team’s first-half performance but acknowledged a drop in intensity after the break. He stated, “We started aggressively with good movement, but we lost our momentum in the second half. We need to improve our mentality and maintain our desire to control the game.”
The assistant manager also noted the impact of Bologna’s increased pressure, which disrupted Napoli’s shape and passing accuracy. He credited Bologna for forcing errors and pushing Napoli out of their comfort zone.
Addressing the team’s objectives, Stellini said, “While we aim for something significant, we must remember our initial goal of finishing in the top four. Today’s point contributes to that objective.” He concluded by emphasizing the importance of consistent performance, stating, “If we can maintain the same intensity, quality, and tempo throughout the entire match, we can continue to dream big.”
