Strasbourg Close to Securing Loan Deal for Young Southampton Talent
French Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg Alsace is on the verge of acquiring promising English winger Samuel Amo-Ameyaw from Southampton FC on a loan deal. The 18-year-old talent has reportedly agreed to personal terms with the Alsatian side.
The proposed loan agreement is said to include a €7 million option for Strasbourg to make the transfer permanent over the next five years. Amo-Ameyaw has already undergone a medical examination with the French club, suggesting that the deal is in its final stages.
Amo-Ameyaw has been a standout player in England’s youth national teams, representing the country from the U16 level and currently featuring in the U19 squad. He made history as Southampton’s youngest-ever Premier League player, debuting at 16 years and 314 days old during the final match of the 2022-2023 season.
The young winger signed his first professional contract with Southampton in July 2023 and has already shown promise at the senior level, scoring his debut goal in a Carabao Cup victory against Cardiff City earlier this season.
This potential move to Strasbourg could provide Amo-Ameyaw with valuable first-team experience in one of Europe’s top leagues, potentially accelerating his development as a professional footballer.
