Strasbourg Manager Explains Post-Match Dispute with Monaco’s Coach

Following a lackluster 0-0 draw between AS Monaco and RC Strasbourg Alsace at Stade Louis II, an unexpected post-match incident between the two managers, Adi Hütter and Liam Rosenior, became the focal point of discussion.

Immediately after the final whistle on Saturday, Strasbourg’s Rosenior appeared visibly agitated with Hütter, as captured by media cameras. Hütter, on the other hand, seemed bewildered by Rosenior’s reaction. During the post-match press conference, Rosenior shed light on the situation.

Rosenior explained that his grievance with Hütter originated from their first encounter earlier in the season. He emphasized his belief in a code of respect towards opponents and colleagues in the football world. Rosenior stated, “I adhere to a principle of showing respect to our rivals and fellow professionals. I felt this principle was violated, initially in our first match against Monaco. When I have to wait an excessive amount of time to shake hands with the opposing manager, it speaks volumes about their character. My priority is winning matches, not forming friendships.”

In response, Hütter expressed surprise at Rosenior’s comments. He remarked, “In my 16-year managerial career, spanning 650 matches across various countries, this is unprecedented. I’ve been coaching in France for two years, and no other manager has ever expressed disappointment in my conduct.”

This unusual exchange has brought attention to the importance of professional courtesy in football, even as competitive tensions run high.
