Strasbourg Manager Hopes to Keep Chelsea Loanee Goalkeeper for Next Season

In a recent interview, Racing Club de Strasbourg’s manager Liam Rosenior expressed his desire to retain Chelsea loanee goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic for the upcoming season. Rosenior praised the 25-year-old Serbian’s performance and adaptation to the club.

“Petrovic has been thriving here, and his happiness is evident,” Rosenior commented. “His young family has settled well in the area, and I believe he has a promising career ahead of him.”

The manager added, “I thoroughly enjoy working with Petrovic and hope we can continue our collaboration, preferably next season, whether it’s here or elsewhere in the future.”

Petrovic has shown exceptional form since joining Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea last summer. While it was initially expected that he would return to his parent club at the season’s end, this may no longer be the case.

Despite Chelsea’s goalkeeper position being a concern this season, the Premier League club is not planning to acquire another goalkeeper. Petrovic was anticipated to compete for the starting position alongside Robert Sanchez and Fili Jorgensen upon his return to Stamford Bridge.

However, Petrovic himself has expressed openness to remaining in Alsace for another season. During a March press conference, he stated, “My focus is on finishing the season strong. We’ll evaluate the possibilities this summer. Staying here could be an excellent option, especially if Strasbourg qualifies for the UEFA Champions League.”
