French defender Theo Hernandez is on the verge of completing a move from AC Milan to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. Reports indicate the transfer fee will be around €25 million, with €20 million guaranteed and up to €5 million in potential bonuses.
Hernandez is expected to sign a lucrative contract with Al-Hilal worth approximately €20 million per season. As the deal nears completion, the left-back will not join his AC Milan teammates for the start of pre-season training on July 7.
The 25-year-old has spent six seasons with the Rossoneri since joining from Real Madrid in 2019. He entered the final year of his contract with Milan, prompting the club to cash in rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Several other Milan players rumored to be leaving, including Yacine Adli, Ismael Bennacer and Devis Vasquez, have also been excused from the start of pre-season training. The Italian giants are now searching for a replacement at left-back, with 23-year-old Archie Brown of Belgian side Gent emerging as a top target.
Hernandez`s impending departure continues the trend of high-profile players moving to the Saudi Pro League this summer. The French international will join a growing list of stars attracted by the lucrative contracts on offer in Saudi Arabia.
