Juventus coach Thiago Motta praised Teun Koopmeiners in a pre-match press conference ahead of their Serie A game against Atalanta, Koopmeiners’ former team, this Sunday.
Koopmeiners scored in Juventus’s 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona last weekend. This brings his Serie A tally to three goals and two assists for the current season. However, this is less than his previous season with Atalanta where he achieved 12 goals and five assists.
Despite facing criticism during the 2024-25 season after his €60 million transfer from Atalanta in the summer, Motta believes Koopmeiners offers more than just goals and assists to the team.
Motta highlighted Koopmeiners’ contribution ahead of the Atalanta match.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Motta expressed his satisfaction with Koopmeiners’ performance this season.
“I always think he’s performing well. He has been a great help to us this season,” Motta stated, as reported by TMW.
“Criticism is inevitable in football. He played excellently in the last match, scoring a goal. I am very pleased for him because scoring goals is our aim. He consistently supports the team and is a crucial figure both on and off the field,” Motta added.
“It is a privilege to coach a player of his caliber. He is dedicated, focused, and versatile. I hope tomorrow’s game will be beneficial for him.”
