Tiago Gabriel: Lecce’s New Defensive Prospect

Lecce’s sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has once again demonstrated his keen eye for talent with the acquisition of Tiago Gabriel. The young Portuguese defender joins the Italian club from Estrela Amadora for just over €1 million, signing a contract until 2027 with an option for two additional years.

Standing at 194 cm tall, Tiago Gabriel is a right-footed center-back born in 2004. He excels in aerial duels and tackles, and can also play as a right-back when needed. The defender developed his skills in the youth academies of Sporting Lisbon and Vitoria Setubal before moving to Estrela Amadora in 2023, where he made his first-team debut this season.

In his brief spell with Estrela Amadora, Gabriel featured in 11 Portuguese league matches, even scoring a crucial goal against Rio Ave in December. He has already faced top Portuguese sides, starting against Porto and being included in the squad for matches against Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.
