Tijjani Reijnders Opens Up About Life in Milan and His Football Journey
AC Milan’s Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders recently shared his experiences of living in Milan and his football career in an in-depth interview. The 25-year-old discussed various aspects of his life, including family, cultural differences, and his passion for the sport.
Reijnders expressed how Milan has become his home, saying, “I now truly consider it home. When we’re in the Netherlands and I tell my wife Marina it’s time to go home, I mean here in Milan.” He appreciates the ease with which friends and family can visit, thanks to the short flight time from the Netherlands.
The midfielder also touched on his multicultural background, with an Indonesian mother and Dutch father. He credits this mix for shaping his personality, combining Dutch pragmatism with Indonesian pride in achievements. Reijnders emphasized the importance of staying humble, a value he and his wife want to instill in their son Xavién.
Discussing the differences between Italy and the Netherlands, Reijnders humorously noted the contrasting dinner times and driving experiences. He likened navigating Milan’s traffic to playing Mario Kart.
Reijnders spoke warmly about fatherhood, describing how his son has changed his perspective on life and football. “Now when I come home, I forget many things because I see him, who is the most important thing in the world,” he shared.
The interview also revealed Reijnders’ impressive collection of football jerseys, including those of teammates and international stars. He highlighted special memories associated with certain shirts, such as Olivier Giroud’s, who helped him settle in Milan.
Reijnders concluded by mentioning his close relationship with his brother Eliano, who plays for the Indonesian national team. “He’s my best friend, we share everything and talk every day,” he said, expressing pride in his brother’s achievements.
