Timothée Chalamet’s Youthful Passion for AS Saint-Étienne
Hollywood sensation Timothée Chalamet, known for his roles in acclaimed films like “Call Me By Your Name” and “Dune,” recently revealed his deep-rooted passion for French football club AS Saint-Étienne. The Franco-American actor’s love for “Les Verts” (The Greens) came to light during an interview, captivating the team’s supporters.
In a candid conversation with music journalist Nardwuar the Human Serviette, Chalamet shared nostalgic memories of his childhood obsession with the team. He reminisced about chasing the team on his bicycle and expressed admiration for former players Bafétimbi Gomis and Dimitri Payet. Chalamet emphasized his devotion, stating, “Saint-Étienne is probably the team I support the most globally, even more than the New York Knicks.”
The actor’s affection for Saint-Étienne has not gone unnoticed. Earlier this year, an American clothing company briefly capitalized on Chalamet’s fandom by selling Saint-Étienne branded shirts, albeit not in the team’s traditional colors, much to the French city’s surprise.
However, recent times have been challenging for Les Verts. Since their promotion to Ligue 1 via playoffs, the team has struggled near the bottom of the table. In December, the club made a managerial change, replacing Olivier Dall’Oglio with Eirik Horneland in hopes of improving their performance.
Chalamet’s enduring support for Saint-Étienne, despite their current difficulties, showcases the actor’s genuine and long-standing connection to the club, dating back to his youth.
