As Vanja Milinkovic-Savic edges closer to a move to Napoli, Torino FC is actively searching for a new goalkeeper. The club has set its sights on several potential replacements, with Sporting CP`s Franco Israel emerging as a prime candidate.
Initially, Torino had considered Cagliari`s Elia Caprile, a former Napoli player. However, Cagliari recently made Caprile`s loan permanent for €8 million and are now demanding at least double that amount for any summer transfer, effectively pricing Torino out of the deal.
In light of this development, Torino has shifted its focus to other options. Lecce`s Wladimiro Falcone remains on their radar, but the club has also expressed interest in Franco Israel from Sporting CP.
Israel, a Uruguay international, has an impressive background. He spent four years in Juventus` youth system from 2018 to 2022, making 59 appearances for Juventus U23 and 27 for their U19 squad. In 2022, he joined Sporting CP for approximately €700,000 and has since contributed to two Portuguese league title victories.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper`s contract with Sporting CP runs until June 2027, potentially making negotiations for his transfer more complex. However, his experience in Italian football during his time with Juventus could make him an attractive option for Torino.
As Milinkovic-Savic`s departure to Napoli appears increasingly likely, Torino`s pursuit of a new goalkeeper intensifies. The club`s management will need to act swiftly to secure a suitable replacement before the transfer window closes.
