Tottenham can focus on developing promising 18-year-old talent instead of pursuing Dibling
Tottenham Hotspur’s disappointing season has had few bright spots, but the emergence of young talents like Mikey Moore, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall offers some hope for the future. While the club has been linked with a move for Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, they may already have an exciting prospect in their ranks who could save them millions.
Reports suggest Tottenham have been laying the groundwork for a potential summer move for Dibling, but competition from Manchester United and Chelsea could drive up his price tag significantly. With estimates around £35 million already, Spurs may be better served looking internally for attacking reinforcements.
One player who could fill that role is 18-year-old South Korean winger Yang Min-Hyeok. Signed last summer from Gangwon FC, Yang impressed in the K League with 12 goals and 6 assists in 38 appearances before joining QPR on loan in January. In 10 Championship appearances so far, he has already notched a goal and an assist.
Described as having “power and pace” by analyst Joel Kim, Yang earned his first senior cap for South Korea in March. While not necessarily a better player than Dibling at this stage, Yang has shown plenty of potential and is already on Tottenham’s books.
Rather than spending big on Dibling as a backup option, promoting Yang to the first team squad next season could allow Spurs to reinvest those funds in other areas of need. The South Korean youngster looks ready to compete for minutes and continue his development under Ange Postecoglou’s guidance.
Ultimately, trusting in Yang’s potential could prove a shrewd move for Tottenham as they look to rebuild after a difficult campaign. His performances so far suggest he has the talent to make an impact, potentially saving the club millions in transfer fees in the process.
