Tottenham Considers Move for £72,000-per-week AC Milan Defender
Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly considering a move for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori as they look to address their current injury crisis in defense. The North London club has held internal discussions about the possibility of signing the English center-back during the January transfer window.
Manager Ange Postecoglou is facing a significant challenge with his defensive options, as Radu Dragusin is currently the only fit center-back available. This shortage comes at a crucial time, with several important fixtures on the horizon, including matches against Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
Tomori, who has fallen out of favor at AC Milan this season, could be an attractive option for Spurs. The 27-year-old has made only a brief 11-minute appearance since mid-October and is reportedly growing dissatisfied with his lack of playing time. Milan legend Franco Baresi has previously praised Tomori for his skill and physical attributes.
Reports suggest that AC Milan might be willing to part with Tomori for a fee of around £21 million. This could make him an affordable solution for Tottenham’s defensive woes. The defender, who earns £72,000 per week, has proven himself in Serie A over the past three seasons, consistently making at least 25 league appearances each year.
While Tomori’s situation at Milan could potentially change under new management, Tottenham’s interest indicates their urgency in strengthening their backline. As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether Spurs will make a formal move for the former Chelsea player or explore other options to bolster their defense.
