Tottenham Could Repeat Dragusin Mistake by Signing Premier League Flop

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a challenging period recently, with injuries to key players and some disappointing results. Manager Ange Postecoglou has been forced to rely heavily on January signing Radu Dragusin, who has struggled to impress.

Now reports suggest Spurs could be set to make a similar move by targeting Ben Godfrey on loan from Atalanta. However, this may prove to be an ill-advised decision that mirrors their Dragusin disappointment.

Godfrey has Premier League experience with Everton, but failed to establish himself as a regular starter at Goodison Park. Since joining Atalanta in the summer, he has made just 5 appearances totaling 93 minutes.

The 25-year-old was even labeled a “flop” by Italian media in September. His lack of playing time in Italy and underwhelming spell at Everton raise serious doubts about his ability to strengthen Tottenham’s defense.

While Spurs clearly need defensive reinforcements, signing Godfrey appears a desperate move rather than a well-considered solution. The club would be better served looking at other options who can make an immediate positive impact.

Ultimately, pursuing Godfrey risks repeating the mistake made with Dragusin’s January arrival. Tottenham should learn from that transfer and be more selective in their defensive recruitment, even if it means waiting until better options become available.
