Tottenham eyeing late swoop for French teenage sensation
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering making a late January move for FC Lorient’s highly-rated young striker Eli Junior Kroupi. The 18-year-old forward has been in impressive form this season, scoring 9 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has made it clear the squad needs reinforcements before the transfer window closes on February 3rd. The club has been focusing their efforts on signing attacking players, with Kroupi emerging as an exciting target.
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Tottenham view Kroupi as a player with world-class potential. The teenager is valued at around £8 million by Transfermarkt, which could prove a bargain for a Premier League club.
Kroupi has drawn comparisons to French superstar Kylian Mbappe, with Lorient teammate Tiémoué Bakayoko saying: “He’s a phenomenon. He reminds me a little of Kylian Mbappé in terms of the maturity of his game. He already has good stats for a youngster his age.”
However, Tottenham may face competition for Kroupi’s signature, with London rivals Chelsea also reportedly interested in the young Frenchman. With just days left in the January window, Spurs will need to move quickly if they hope to secure this exciting prospect.
