Tottenham Hotspur is currently the frontrunner in the competition to sign a highly-regarded forward. Daniel Levy believes this player could be available for a fee less than the initially suggested £50m.
Tottenham Strengthening Forward Line
Tottenham is looking to bolster their attacking options during the summer transfer window. They have expressed interest in acquiring RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who is also attracting attention from Arsenal.
Spurs are not only targeting a central forward but also seeking new wingers to add depth to their attack, particularly after experiencing several injuries this season.
Barcelona’s Ferran Torres is among the wingers being considered. Additionally, Tottenham is leading the chase for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, identified as a primary target for Ange Postecoglou this summer.
Eze is not the only Premier League winger on Tottenham’s radar. Reports indicate they are also in a strong position to sign Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, who is anticipated to leave Southampton at the end of the season.
With Southampton likely facing relegation, Dibling is expected to move on, reportedly unhappy with the contract extension offered by the club.
Given the 19-year-old’s dissatisfaction with the contract offer, Levy believes Southampton may be willing to negotiate below their £50m+ valuation, potentially facilitating a transfer to North London.
However, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have also shown interest in the young player, making the pursuit competitive.
Dibling’s Potential to Shine in a Top Team
This season has marked a breakthrough for the winger, who has become a regular first-team player for Southampton, making 28 appearances across all competitions.
Despite Southampton’s struggles in the Premier League, the young talent has shown glimpses of his ability, scoring two league goals.
Sources have described Dibling as ‘incredible’, suggesting he has the potential to score more frequently in a stronger team. Tottenham leading the race for him is therefore seen as positive news.
The initial £50m+ asking price might be considered high, especially if Southampton are relegated, which would weaken their negotiating position and could discourage Dibling from signing a new contract.
While significant interest in Dibling could increase his transfer fee, Tottenham should exercise caution to avoid overpaying for a player still developing his consistency in goals and assists.
