Tottenham Targets Lille Midfielder Angel Gomes After Failed Talks with Teammate
Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly made a transfer offer for Lille midfielder Angel Gomes, following unsuccessful negotiations with his teammate Jonathan David. The North London club is looking to strengthen their squad for next season and avoid another injury crisis.
According to sources, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and technical director Johan Lange have identified Gomes as a key target. The 24-year-old England international will be out of contract in 2025, making him an attractive free agent option.
Tottenham have already held talks with Gomes and submitted an offer, hoping to convince him to return to the Premier League. However, they face competition from Manchester United, Gomes’ former club, who are also interested in bringing him back to Old Trafford.
Gomes has impressed at Lille over the past two seasons, earning praise for his technical skills and earning a call-up to the England national team. Former interim England U21 manager Lee Carsley described Gomes as a “very skillful” player.
While Tottenham push for Gomes, it appears their pursuit of his Lille teammate Jonathan David has cooled, with the striker more likely to join Barcelona. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to add quality depth to his squad as the team aims to build on recent Premier League victories and climb up the table.
