Tottenham Targets “Terrific” £15m Championship Striker Ahead of Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen to outmaneuver Chelsea in the pursuit of West Bromwich Albion striker Josh Maja. Manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to bolster his attacking options in the January transfer window.
Spurs have already been active this month, signing goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky for £12.5m. However, Postecoglou has emphasized the need for further reinforcements across the squad.
According to reports from Spain, Tottenham are showing strong interest in Maja as potential backup for Dominic Solanke. The Nigerian forward has been in excellent form this season, netting 12 goals in the Championship.
Both Tottenham and Chelsea are said to be monitoring Maja’s situation closely. West Brom are keen to retain their in-form striker, but it’s suggested he could be available for around £15m this month.
At 26 years old, Maja has drawn praise for his performances, with pundit Carlton Palmer describing him as “terrific” earlier in the campaign. While not a young prospect, he could prove to be a shrewd squad addition for Spurs at the reported price.
Tottenham’s interest comes as they seek reliable cover for their attack. Current backup Richarlison has struggled with fitness issues, making just five Premier League appearances this season.
For the quoted £15m fee, Maja could represent good value as a squad player for Tottenham as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the second half of the season.
