Roma legend Francesco Totti has revealed that Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri are likely unavailable for the upcoming Roma managerial position. According to Totti, both coaches have “already signed with other clubs” ahead of the 2025-26 season.
As Roma searches for a permanent replacement for interim manager Claudio Ranieri, Totti acknowledged that Conte and Allegri would be ideal candidates. However, he believes they are no longer options due to existing commitments elsewhere.
“They are two coaches who have already signed for other teams,” Totti told Sky Sport Italia when asked about Conte and Allegri potentially taking over at Roma. He added, “I don`t know whether it will be an Italian or a foreigner [who becomes Roma`s next manager], especially since all the best coaches have already been taken.”
Conte is currently under contract with Napoli until 2027 but has been linked with a return to Juventus. Allegri, who left Juventus in 2024, has been rumored to potentially replace Conte at Napoli if he departs.
Totti emphasized the importance of transparency from the club regarding their managerial search and future plans. “We have to be realistic and tell the truth, even if Roma is in 10th place, 15th, first, or second,” he stated. “The fans want to know the truth. When people know the truth, everything becomes easier.”
As Roma continues its search for a new permanent manager, it remains to be seen who will ultimately take charge for the 2025-26 campaign.
