Juventus manager Igor Tudor has emphasized the importance of a strong showing from his team in their Champions League opener against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. He also addressed questions about Kenan Yildiz`s potential start following his impressive performance against Inter last weekend.
“Dortmund is a formidable opponent, not just in Germany but across Europe,” Tudor stated during Monday`s pre-match press conference. “We`re eager to begin our Champions League campaign at home with such a high-caliber match.”
Regarding Yildiz, Tudor cautioned against drawing comparisons to club legend Alessandro Del Piero: “Let`s allow the young man to develop naturally without constant scrutiny. He`s performing well, but we`ll see about his inclusion in the starting lineup.”
Tudor reflected on Juventus` recent 4-3 victory over Inter: “We prevailed against arguably the strongest squad in Serie A, despite not being at our best. It`s satisfying to win in such circumstances.”
On his Champions League coaching debut, Tudor remained focused on the team: “This isn`t about personal milestones. The Champions League is a unique competition that energizes players. Everyone aspires to participate – it`s a privilege.”
Tudor also touched on his current coaching philosophy: “My approach has evolved. While I still appreciate attacking football, the primary goal is to win. If we can score more goals in the process, that`s even better. A 3-0 victory would be ideal.”
As Juventus prepares to face Dortmund, Tudor`s message is clear – the team must deliver a strong performance to start their Champions League campaign on the right foot.
