Juventus coach Igor Tudor praised his team`s efforts in their 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Club World Cup, emphasizing that the players adhered to the game plan despite widespread fatigue.
The closely contested match in Miami was decided by Gonzalo Garcia`s header from Trent Alexander-Arnold`s cross. Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio made several crucial saves to keep his side in contention until the final whistle.
Tudor commented on the team`s physical condition, stating, “I must commend the players for sticking to our strategy. They gave their all under challenging circumstances, with nearly everyone requesting substitution by the end.”
The coach explained some of his tactical decisions, including the substitution of Kenan Yildiz: “We were concerned Yildiz might injure himself. Others were in similar situations. I wanted to make more attacking changes, but injuries limited our options.”
Reflecting on Juventus` Club World Cup campaign, which saw two wins and two losses, Tudor noted, “We`ve gained valuable experience facing top-tier teams. It`s crucial to assess our standing against such opponents and learn from these encounters.”
Looking ahead, Tudor remained focused on the present: “Now is not the time to discuss transfer plans. We`ll take a well-deserved break and then prepare for the upcoming season.”
Despite the defeat, Tudor`s comments suggest a positive outlook for Juventus as they aim to build on this experience for future competitions.
