Tudor: Juventus Struggled in All Aspects During 1-0 Defeat to Parma
Juventus manager Igor Tudor acknowledged that his team underperformed in various areas during their 1-0 loss to Parma on Wednesday. This defeat marked Tudor’s first setback since taking charge of the Bianconeri.
The Turin-based side failed to register a shot on target until around the 60-minute mark, with Randal Kolo Muani finally testing the goalkeeper. Tudor expressed his disappointment to DAZN, stating, “We were lacking in multiple aspects. Despite pushing hard in the second half, we didn’t create enough dangerous opportunities.”
Tudor continued, “We conceded from a long-range cross. While we’re disappointed, we must look forward. There are still five matches remaining with plenty of points at stake. Our next game is in just four days.”
The loss has pushed Juventus down to fifth place in the Serie A standings, now trailing fourth-placed Bologna by a single point. This fixture was rescheduled from Monday due to the passing of Pope Francis.
Addressing the team’s preparation, Tudor explained, “It’s true we faced some challenges, but that’s not an excuse. We need to adapt and focus on what’s ahead. Parma is performing well currently. They play straightforward football but with a competitive spirit. We deserved to score, but unfortunately lacked determination in attack.”
The coach emphasized the need for improvement, particularly in the final third of the pitch. “When you get into the last 20-25 meters, you need to score. If you don’t, you risk losing the match. We delivered numerous crosses but failed to capitalize. We must develop a stronger desire to win and fight. I’ve communicated this to the players. Tactics and systems are important, but success primarily comes from other factors.”
Tudor also mentioned that striker Dusan Vlahovic was substituted at halftime due to a thigh issue. Looking ahead, Juventus will face Monza at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday, April 27, as they aim to bounce back from this disappointing result.
