Verona Coach Zanetti Praises Team’s Effort Against League Leaders Napoli

Following Hellas Verona’s 2-0 defeat to table-topping Napoli in Serie A, coach Paolo Zanetti shared his thoughts on the match. Despite the loss, Zanetti expressed satisfaction with certain aspects of his team’s performance and attitude on the field.

“Napoli deserves more credit for their win than we deserve blame for our loss,” Zanetti stated. “They’re a strong team, and there’s a reason they’re at the top of the league. Today, we focused on improving our defensive work, and we can take away a respectable performance as we look ahead to our next match.”

Zanetti acknowledged the challenges his team faced against the league leaders: “In the first half, we found some openings and had two significant chances that we didn’t capitalize on. At this level, you need to be clinical. In the second half, we were less precise, but we managed to raise our game towards the end. Napoli put us under pressure for long periods, which drained our energy and affected our ability to counter-attack as effectively as we wanted.”
