Verona Secures Valuable Point in 0-0 Draw Against Genoa
Verona and Genoa battled to a scoreless draw at the Stadio Bentegodi, allowing Hellas to inch closer to mid-table security in Serie A.
Verona aimed to definitively distance themselves from the relegation zone after a three-game unbeaten streak. However, they were without several key players due to injuries. Genoa was missing suspended midfielder Morten Frendrup, as well as Hugo Cuenca and Mario Balotelli.
Genoa’s Daniel Mosquera had the best chances in the first half, forcing a save from Nicola Leali and narrowly missing the far post with a curling effort. He also squandered a free header from close range.
Verona nearly took the lead in the 80th minute when a set piece deflected off Patrizio Masini and hit the outside of the post.
The draw sees Verona take another step towards securing their Serie A status for next season, while Genoa remains in mid-table position.
