After the match where Bologna defeated Verona, the coach of the “Gialloblu,” Paolo Zanetti, expressed his dissatisfaction with the refereeing at the press conference. The main reason for criticism was a controversial episode with a possible penalty in favor of Verona due to Ferguson’s foul on Bradaric, which raised questions.
Zanetti stated: “I don’t want to focus too much on the refereeing, but the penalty incident on Bradaric seems absolutely clear to me. Also, with this style of refereeing, where cards are given easily, such situations become predictable. It was a difficult day, including because of these refereeing decisions.”
Regarding Valentini’s sending off for a second yellow card, Zanetti said: “Looking back, perhaps I should have substituted him earlier, yes. It’s important to take into account the refereeing style in terms of cards. It was a normal play contact.”
