Vitinha Rejects Real Madrid Move, Deeming It ‘Foolish’

Real Madrid is set to reinforce its midfield this summer, a crucial step two seasons after Jude Bellingham’s arrival and, more significantly, following the exits of club legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. Los Blancos have struggled to adapt without their long-serving midfield maestros, and it appears that the strategy of solely relying on Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde as partners for Aurelien Tchouameni is no longer considered a sufficient long-term solution.

Reports suggest that both Xabi Alonso and Carlo Ancelotti had advocated for midfield additions in prior transfer windows. Despite Real Madrid’s initial confidence in their existing squad depth, the inability of three different managers, including Alvaro Arbeloa, to find a consistent midfield solution has reportedly pushed the club to finally make new signings this summer.

Vitinha Rules Out Real Madrid Transfer

Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha, who had been identified as a prime target for Real Madrid’s midfield, has unequivocally dismissed any possibility of a transfer to the Spanish capital. While it was acknowledged that any deal for the Portugal international would be complex, he remained high on their recruitment shortlist until now.

“Leaving PSG would be unwise and not in my best interest,” Vitinha declared in an interview with Canal 11, as reported by Diario AS. “I’m incredibly happy here! I feel a strong sense of appreciation from the club and fans, which I believe I’ve earned. My family and I love living here, the team camaraderie is excellent, and the coach is outstanding.”

Real Madrid’s Midfield Alternatives

Vitinha’s firm rejection effectively concludes Real Madrid’s pursuit, as a player’s willingness to move is often the first and most critical step. With the Portuguese midfielder no longer an option, Real Madrid is now reportedly exploring other alternatives. Kees Smit’s valuation is a point of contention for the Bernabeu club, while interest in Adam Wharton appears to have diminished. An intriguing economic alternative mentioned is Chema Andres, a former Castilla player who left last summer but has since made a significant impression at Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
