West Ham Eyeing January Loan Move for Brighton’s Evan Ferguson
West Ham United are reportedly considering a January loan move for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson. The Hammers are looking to strengthen their attacking options after struggling for goals this season.
With summer signing Niclas Fullkrug failing to make an impact and Michail Antonio sidelined long-term, manager Julen Lopetegui is keen to bring in a new center-forward. The 19-year-old Ferguson has been identified as an ideal target who could provide an immediate boost.
Brighton value Ferguson at around £60 million for a permanent transfer, but are open to loaning him out in January to gain more first-team experience. This could present an opportunity for West Ham to secure his services on a short-term basis.
Journalist Dean Jones believes Ferguson would be “tailor-made” for West Ham’s needs in the second half of the season. He stated: “I think he’s perfect for West Ham, and I think they might try and do it. Ferguson, I think, is tailor-made for the job that they’ve got in the second half of the season.”
The Irish striker has shown promise at Brighton but has found regular starts hard to come by this term. A loan move to West Ham could benefit all parties, allowing Ferguson to gain Premier League experience while potentially solving the Hammers’ striker issues.
With limited funds available in January, a loan deal for Ferguson represents a low-risk option for West Ham as they look to climb the table in 2024. His aerial ability and clinical finishing could provide the goal threat they have been lacking up front this season.
