Turkey says it’s decided to safe its southern border.
Tensions have elevated alongside Turkey’s border with northern Syria.
The defence ministry says its forces have hit practically 500 targets in Kurdish-held areas since Sunday.
Turkey can be reporting casualties amongst fighters from the SDF – the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The strikes comply with a bombing in Istanbul on November 13, for which the federal government blames the outlawed Kurdish group, the PKK.
Ankara says it’s focusing on bases in Syria belonging to the YPG, a Kurdish group with hyperlinks to the PKK.
Since 2016, Turkish forces have carried out three floor operations to filter out YPG fighters from northern Syria.
Now President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is promising to launch one other navy operation.
