Wolverhampton Wolves in Talks with Reims Midfielder Marshall Munetsi
Stade de Reims has granted permission for their 28-year-old midfielder Marshall Munetsi to enter discussions with Wolverhampton Wanderers, signaling a possible move to the English Premier League. The two clubs have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement for a transfer fee of approximately £17 million, including bonuses.
However, the transfer’s completion depends on Reims successfully finding a replacement for Munetsi. The French club’s attempt to acquire Joris Chotard, the 23-year-old French Olympic team member, from Montpellier HSC was unsuccessful. As an alternative, Reims is now considering Mory Gbane, a 24-year-old player from Portuguese club Gil Vicente.
Reims is expected to have a busy end to the transfer window. In addition to seeking a replacement for Munetsi, the club is also looking to strengthen its squad with a new defender and forward. Furthermore, Reims is in search of a new head coach following the dismissal of Luka Elsner due to poor team performance.
This potential transfer represents a significant opportunity for Munetsi to test his skills in one of the world’s most competitive football leagues. For Wolves, the Zimbabwean midfielder could provide valuable reinforcement to their squad as they aim to improve their standing in the Premier League.
