World boxing champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez issued an apology to Lionel Messi on Wednesday after accusing the Argentine World Cup star of mistreating a Mexican soccer jersey. Alvarez took to Twitter final weekend to vent anger at Messi, saying the soccer star had “insulted” Mexico by showing to put his foot on an El Tri jersey on the ground of the Argentina locker room.
“Did you see Messi cleansing the altering room with our jersey and flag????” Mexican icon Alvarez wrote on Twitter. “He had higher ask God that I do not discover him!! Simply as I respect Argentina, you must respect Mexico!! I am not speaking in regards to the nation (Argentina) I am speaking about Messi.”

Alvarez’s outburst elicited rapid responses from these defending Messi and claiming there was nothing uncommon a couple of soccer jersey being on the ground after a match. Argentina captain Messi had apparently swapped shirts along with his Mexico counterpart Andres Guardado.

On Wednesday, Alvarez, 32, apologised to Messi and Argentina, saying he had over-reacted. “I used to be carried away by the eagerness and love I really feel for my nation and I made feedback that had been misplaced for which I need to apologize to Messi and the folks of Argentina,” Alvarez wrote on Twitter.
“Each day we be taught one thing new and this time it was my flip.
“I want each groups a lot success of their matches right now and can proceed supporting Mexico till the top.”
