Young Defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal Joins Amiens on Loan from Rennes
Amiens SC, currently competing in France’s Ligue 2, has officially announced the acquisition of 18-year-old defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal on a loan deal from Stade de Rennes, lasting until the end of the current season.
Aït Boudlal, a recent graduate of the renowned Mohamed VI Football Academy in Morocco, only joined Rennes this past summer. The academy has a track record of producing top talent, including Moroccan internationals Nayef Aguerd, Azzedine Ounahi, and Youssef En-Nesyri.
Interestingly, Ligue 1 outfit Lille OSC had shown interest in the young center-back during the final stages of the transfer window, reportedly submitting an offer to Rennes. However, the Brittany-based club opted to retain the promising teenager and loan him to Amiens instead.
Amiens, currently situated in mid-table, will welcome Aït Boudlal as they aim to improve their form and potentially challenge for a playoff spot by season’s end. While automatic promotion seems unlikely at this stage, the addition of the young defender could provide a boost to their ambitions.
