Argentina beat the Netherlands 4-3 on penalties in a dramatic, testy match at Lusail’s Iconic Stadium to arrange a semi-final in opposition to Croatia, after their World Cup quarter-final completed 2-2 after extra-time.
No less than 14 yellow playing cards have been handed out within the match on Friday which seemed to be going Argentina’s manner till the Netherlands equalised within the tenth minute of stoppage time.
A half hour of additional time noticed no breakthroughs.
The Dutch failed to attain their first two penalties within the shootout, whereas Argentina have been flawless till they missed their fourth. Lisandro Martinez scored their closing spot kick and saved Argentina’s World Cup desires alive.
