Michael Carrick Keen to Unite Full Manchester United Squad Before Season Start
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is eager to have his complete squad together as the team enters the final stages of its preparation for the 2026-27 season.
In their most recent pre-season friendly, the Reds played to a 1-1 draw against Champions League titleholders Paris Saint-Germain. Bryan Mbeumo continued his strong pre-season form, scoring his third goal in two matches by equalizing Ibrahim Mbaye's early strike.
Several key players, including Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, and Youri Tielemans, made their return to the field. However, the match saw Tom Heaton and Mason Mount substituted due to suspected injuries.
The team is set to travel to the Republic of Ireland, where Carrick anticipates that having the full squad united will significantly boost their preparations for the upcoming campaign.
"I'm looking forward to it," Carrick stated.
"Pre-season has been a series of different phases, and we'll bring everyone together once we arrive in Dublin in the next couple of days.
"It will be fantastic. We have two more games this week, and again, I'm excited to witness the team's development."
Manchester United will conclude their pre-season fixtures with a match against Leeds United on Wednesday, followed by a game against AC Milan next Saturday. Carrick is hopeful that his squad will be fully prepared heading into the Premier League opener.
