NFL Sunday: Commanders Shock Seahawks, Steelers Edge Bengals in Thriller

Washington ended Seattle’s winning streak with a 33–31 victory, marking the Seahawks' first loss since November last year. Marcus Mariota, filling in for an injured Jayden Daniels, threw three touchdown passes. A 50-yard interception return by Kain Medrano was another key score for the Commanders, who capitalized on three Seahawks turnovers.

Seattle had won 12 consecutive games, including their Super Bowl run, but couldn't complete another comeback in Washington. Jaxon Smith-Njigba stood out despite the loss, with 10 catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns. He also completed a short pass on a trick play in the fourth quarter.

Pittsburgh edged Cincinnati 30–27 in a high-scoring AFC North game. Aaron Rodgers threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns. A 47-yard catch-and-run by Darnell Washington set up Chris Boswell’s go-ahead 33-yard field goal with 2:18 left.

Cincinnati had a final chance, but Joe Burrow was sacked by Derrick Harmon, fumbling the ball, which was recovered by Pittsburgh's Sebastian Joseph-Day. Both teams now stand at 2–1.

Kansas City maintained its perfect start, beating Miami 24–10, though the game was closer than the score suggests. Kenneth Walker III scored on the ground and through the air, while Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes as the Chiefs moved to 3–0.

Miami struggled for momentum after De’Von Achane’s knee injury early on. Mahomes completed 20 of 24 passes for 246 yards, with his 11-yard touchdown pass to Travis Kelce sealing the win.

Jacksonville dominated New England 35–6. Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdown passes to Josh Cameron, Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington, with Bhayshul Tuten adding a rushing touchdown.

Lawrence finished 19 of 29 for 182 yards and an interception. Meyers had seven catches for 64 yards. New England’s Drake Maye had another difficult game, throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble, bringing his turnover total to seven in three games.

Detroit held off a late Jets rally to win 31–24, improving to 2–1. Jahmyr Gibbs scored three touchdowns – two rushing and the decisive 11-yard reception with 2:25 remaining. He finished with 99 rushing yards on 20 carries and seven catches for 65 yards.

New York had a chance to respond, reaching the Detroit 28-yard line. However, quarterback Smith lost possession after being sacked by Chuck Clark, ending the Jets’ comeback hopes.

Buffalo survived a chaotic game against Los Angeles, committing five turnovers but still winning 24–16 to remain unbeaten at 3–0. Josh Allen scored twice on the ground, including the go-ahead one-yard touchdown with 7:35 left, followed by James Cook’s three-yard score.

Allen threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. Cook and tight end Dalton Kincaid also lost possession. The Chargers failed to convert on fourth down at the Buffalo 45, with Justin Herbert’s pass falling incomplete.

Cleveland staged another late comeback to beat Carolina 21–18, moving to 2–1. Deshaun Watson threw both of his touchdown passes to Harold Fannin Jr, including the game-winning 14-yard strike with 1:48 remaining.

Carolina had led 18–13 after Bryce Young’s eight-yard touchdown pass to John Metchie III with 4:25 left. Cleveland responded with a 65-yard, eight-play drive. Watson struggled for much of the game but found his rhythm late.

Indianapolis snapped a five-game losing streak against Houston and a nine-game overall skid with a 19–17 win. Spencer Shrader kicked four field goals, including the game-winner from 53 yards with 16 seconds left.

Daniel Jones completed 24 of 36 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown, but also threw an interception and lost two fumbles. Houston’s Will Anderson Jr recorded 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, but the Texans fell to 0–3.

The Giants relied on their run game to secure a low-scoring 12–7 victory over Tennessee in their first game without quarterback Jaxson Dart. The win put New York at 2–1, but the game was overshadowed by an injury to star pass rusher Brian Burns.

Burns left midway through the fourth quarter with an apparent right knee injury, requiring assistance to leave the field. His status is a significant concern for a Giants team off to a promising start under head coach John Harbaugh. Tennessee remains winless at 0–3.
