Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest, continued their pre-season preparations on Sunday. The Magpies faced Strasbourg at home, while the Reds took on Como at Anfield, and Forest encountered Brest at the City Ground. Spurs played a training match against Hoffenheim, following their 3-0 victory against the same German club the previous day.
Tottenham vs. Hoffenheim: Maddison's Return in a Draw
James Maddison made an immediate, albeit unfortunate, impact in his first appearance for Tottenham in nearly a year after recovering from a serious knee injury. He conceded a penalty while attempting to recover possession from Hoffenheim's Leon Avdullahu. Adam Hlozek converted the spot-kick, but Ben Davies quickly equalized, heading in a cross from new £85 million signing Mateus Fernandes. Seventeen-year-old Luca Williams-Barnett gave Spurs a half-time lead with a curling shot, only for Valentin Gendrey's volley to secure a 2-2 draw for Hoffenheim.
